Colonial Movers
Adding new ships to the fleet is always fun. Well, not really, it's a lot of painfully slow and boring work. But it is cool to see the finished work, and that's what we are now giving to you.

New Benchmark Video
To silence the nay sayers about the new BSG v3.0 model being too detailed for smooth game performance, I put together a video testing the model ingame in battle with two Basestars and 24 fighters dogfighting.
The special effects are still in it's early stage and the model is still being optimized for peak performance, but I'll let the early ingame test video speak for itself. Performance only improves from here.

Long time no updates
So yea, it's been a while since we've updated the site with any news. Yes, over two months. Now stop complaining.
While we like to keep some of the stuff we work with secret, we do have something new to show to our audience every now and then. Here are couple of good recent examples:
First is Omniscaper's very own baby, the (hopefully) final version of the Battlestar Galactica ingame model. It's still work in progress, so drop by the developement thread here.
Then there is the Colonial One model by our newest member Speedy. He has gone to great lengths to make sure the ship is as accurate as it can be within the 9k poly budget. You can check out his work here.
Anyone who visits our forums already knows about these, so take that as a hint to register and start browsing.

Animation test
The remote chance of having our very own rendered cutscenes is one step closer. With some luck and way too many nights without any sleep, you'll see more of stuff like this in our next release. Mind you, that's not a promise.
Download (ignore the FireFront webplayer and download the full version)
Discuss the animation test here.

Two weeks and 100 000 downloads
Only two weeks after the release of the Beyond the Red Line demo, total downloads of the game worldwide have exceeded 100,000! Our thanks to everyone who has seeded torrents, posted mirrors, and linked to our download across the internet! We could not have hit 100,000 without you!

Linux release and recovery from traffic
Teaches me not to promise anything. The planned Linux release yesterday never became reality thanks to the huge traffic our server was getting. The traffic was also the reason why the torrent links and video downloads went down, and unfortunately they will stay that way for a while. Our server masters Matt and taylor are working on the issue and we have full confidence in them.
Luckily, our second in command karajorma came to the rescue and all our torrent links are now back in business, including the brand new Linux release. As usual, all downloads can be found at the downloads section.

Download the demo soundtrack
Our composer Max put together a wonderful original soundtrack for some missions of the demo. We've now made six tracks availabe in mp3 format, go ahead and download them.
Note that some of the tracks are not actually featured in the demo, so you can consider them an extra bonus.

Voice acting and Odd
A few moments ago our resident writer, audio engineer and voice actor manager Oddaelan finished the last voices for our three-mission long single player campaign. It may not sound much, but the task was in truth immense. Last mission alone has over thirteen(!) minutes of spoken dialogue, and briefings and debriefings on top of that. So please, three cheers for Odd in thanks for the great job!
The work is not yet done however, several of our multiplayer missions await voice acted briefings and debriefings. Good thing that they should be much easier than the already finished stuff.

Weekend well spent
In an effort to bring some life to our website, I'm attempting to give regular updates on the progress of the game. Or more specifically, the demo, of which I can tell you that it's close.
The team spent most of the last weekend playtesting both single and multi player missions over and over again, finding and fixing bugs, tweaking stuff, finalizing AI etc. Really boring stuff to be honest, but it's something that has to be done.
For example, we found a bug that crashed the game if you entered the objectives menu while flying a mission. Weird thing was that the crashing only happened after mission objectives were updated. Finally karajorma figured out that we missed three very small (15x15) image files that the game uses to mark completed, incomplete and failed objectives. As always, fixing the bug took only a minute, but finding the reason for it was the hard task.

New site launched!
Yes, our new site is finally here. Thanks to our distinct lack of a real webmaster we have been forced to use a ready-made template for our site. The results are not too shabby, big thanks to Free Website Templates.
