Bad news: The problem with 1.75 was in the code, and could not be fixed. Good news: I managed to find some time to make a completely new version of the game, from scratch. In the demo a lot of features are missing, but they will be added over time Demo features include: - shields - high res sprites (ships) - enemies have health - improved enemy ai So enjoy, the V2 demo is available in downloads.

It's here - Screen scrolling in desktop freespace! The new upgrade, which includes a larger arena, using screen scrolling to keep track of your fighter. This also includes the debris engine from V1.61b, but all code has been re-ordered to optimize speed. Beware of the awfull starry background this is not here to stay - it will hopefully be replaced with screenshots from the people (the details of this has been posted at both sectorgame and game warden. The new upgrade is available in the dowloads section, under desktopfsV1.61ssa.zip - Enjoy!

Due to troubles in the making of the V1.75 release, another release has been made ready so as not to keep anyone waiting for updates. V1.60 is now available in the downloads section. It includes a new debris system (still under construction) which creates debris when maras are destroyed. in the next release (V1.61) there will be explosions when maras are destroyed, a new backdrop for the "you're dead" screen and a starfield backdrop for the main game.

desktop fs V1.75 is on the way, watch the downloads section for updates. The new version of the game includes an animated starting screen and highscores. the animated intro will be available for seperate download soon.

Thanks to game-warden, I've finally got some permanent hosting for my desktop freespace game, but if anyone still wants to mirror the game from their sites, feel free! Also this new hosting is just in time for the 1.50 release of desktop freespace and it's available in downloads.
