Quick response cause this is for NEW screens only (I've posted the old ones too many times he he).. More testing needed, especially since i need the third for Gerwalks(guardian mode) for the various valkyries as well as the battloids for teh normal veritechs. For now the closets to completion of the transformation options is teh Alphas as we have both fighter adn batloid modes but not guardian (half mech/half fighter)...

In theroy we will eventually as the SEXP for change model needs to be fredded for each mission (note to try making a mission called blank and fred only mission critical fighters like Alpha 1 for transforming and then save it as Mission Template. That way each mission made build off that template already freddded and thus in every mission alpha1 has the option to transform)...

I tested out the change model command andit works instantly (how is when you start the mission it loads the models possible so they are ready to go at the push of a button or event).

I had an alpha fighter and programmed it to change to Alpha battliod when I hit the 1 button as a test (many other ways can be programmed) and it was instant and smooth!

Anyway there is a 15yo jerk on yahoo chat who picks on this mod and myself personally so to show my appreciation I posted Zaft Commander's pic on a borg cube (note he is NOT in the mod, this is a joke) and now see me attacking him in my veritech. I dub the the ZAFT CUBE!

If you notice I am firing at a certain place on his anatomy to keep the ignorant prick from reproducing and propogating his stupidy throughout the universe! ENJOY!

Please note he is obsessed with Gundam Seed (Especially Zaft forces, and no Mommy did NOT help him make that costume, he did it all himself. ZIEGHAIL ! ) :lol:

One of my unofficial duties is as gaming ambassador (lol). Anyway I met Accused_Raptor on relic forums for his Sentinels mod for HW2 and we got to talking. He's just starting out and has limited help as well (but he can model!)

I sent him AA's asn Arisul's models (as they suppor any Robotech related projects) and he in gave us a sneak peek at his Invid Scout model (still a wip granted, but damn I like it!). This thing will rock when it's finished!!!

I just can’t get over how badass this MOD is going to be! Imagine commanding 30+ alphas on an attack on Reflex point with 80+ Invid mecha. Massive battle.
Or how about the Force of Arms where you, your wingmen, Breetai and the SDF-1 all take on millions of Dolza's ships! There is much potential...

Why I was just thinking,
Ultimately we could shoot be like The Babylon Project and have the MOD and game engine all in one install package so people don’t have to worry about already having Freespace 2, they can just download the package and play it. It would also increase our fan base because we could practically call it a new game. We could just post a link on www.robotech.com and they would probably announce it on their website and we could have people by the bucket load joining. To my knowledge there are no other 1st person space combat games based on Robotech, they are all 3rd person. It could be very popular.

Of course this is all just phantasy for now. Maybe once I learn to be a better coder (when I finish comp science 3) I could implement something like that. It would be a ways off, but still possible.

. Matt (and all others reading this), please do NOT post anything on Robotech.com or leave any links to here or to HLP there... Harmony Gold is not a very nice sort of company (imagine trying to sue the Japanese originators over a licencing issue? The audacity!) Although there is probably a goldmine of help just bursting to join us should they become aware of our efforts, I would very much dread recieving a "cist and decease" order from good old Carl Macek. Of course we get absolutely no profit (or any exchange at all) from this labor of love but since they are not involved (meaning creative control or distrobustion) they can claim we are hurting the franchise and shut the mod down (in theory).

. I am very wary about IP issues as not everyone is as understanding as Paramount (all the thousands of ST mods keeps the ST community adn franchise strong adn they KNOW and SUPPORT IT!).

. I myself make VERy discrete inquiries anytime I get near a site that is "Official" or an "Official Affiliate" as there is ALWAYS one killjoy some where taht is just waiting to narc on somebody so they get their 15 minutes of fame on the net for "I caught them! Yup I did!"

Know what I mean?

This is the OLD FOA (Force of Arms) mission test

This mission will NOT work with the new sdf-1 model as I was using the RT1 model. You lead a wing of VF1S's with strike packs (Supers) and had Reflex Torpedoes (Reflex Missiles are half as strong). Anyway you start off in formation and noone is supposed to use the radio until you hear minmay sing! SDF-1 blows away three or four cap ships and the battle is on! Breeti has his Command NupiteitX and Azonia has her smaller Nupitiet cruiser. Back then with old FS retail I made a track to go witht he mission by alt tab out and start my media player for WE CAN WIN! and alt tab back in game adn it was awesome! to simulate so many ships I constantly had Zentreadi Nupitiet's warping in with no animation so there are just 'there" but with so many you don't really notice. I PLANNED on altering the fleet backgrounds someone made before so you see 5 million Zent ships around you and Earth to make you feel immerced in a truly life or death, end of the world battle!

Pissed?! Do you have any idea how much work I put into that MOD? I taught myself how to make 3D models from scratch just do to what I did.

I found a way to make transforming ships without editing the code. I created new sound and visual effects, and did over half the MOD work myself. For TWO years. Then I moved on with life when most of my staff became irregular.

Yeah, Pissed.

Your team fell apart and the project was dropped. Hence, pissed. I never said what you did sucked or anything... Plus, I was told there was more material that had been nearly completed, but whoever was working on it decided that it wasn't important enough to hand it out.

This was a great mod. I was pissed to see it not fully completed after garnering so much support.

As part of a project you should at least be able to empathise a little (after all he DID go into detail of basicly what happened, I DO remember those events a little).

MAX wasn't invalidating your feelings. But Gee, wouldn't you think an actual participant would be more upset than just a fan who appreciated it? I know I would be more irate than ANYONE if this project ever falls through.

Now that we all feel the same way, lets forget about the past and concentrate on the present and future.

Mind the Topic a little, discussing screenshots here (minor sidetracks allowed)...

Actually we don't have a texture guy yet, so when we find a model we have to use what's available. However in the future I'm hoping people will come forward and optimize the textures (glow points, shine, ect..). L8tr!

And...umm....thats where I am supposed to come though...sooner or later. I really have been trying to learn to UV map. That shit is hard with complex models. I am making slow but sure progress :) . There are so many polygon surfaces its pretty crazy. Rest be assured SD, I will texture those models you gave me. I may even venture to say that I will teach myself to model. Most people have told me that its better to start backwords so you can better understand the heiarchy so I am going to do it that way.

I didn't mean to imply anything by the way ;) I listed you as a modler by default though you are skinning the new VT's. Speaking of which Trashman is really busy lately but will be starting on the sdf-1 soldier mode in a few months. Deadelus and Promethus seperate will be comming in two weeks! YAY!!! Of course we need them for mission2 or 3 floating dead in space, BUT later on if we can get access to the ground mod TI is working on we can have them in the water in Macross harbor staying still but shooting at zentreadi!!! WOOT!

Anyway I talk too much!

We defiantely need more help, plus I would like to get this out within a year if possible... (I've already waited 2 years for this, time to use what I collected).

Hey, do you mind sending me those files in .3ds format? When I reformatted I seemed to have forgotten to back up my "aquired" Truespace..... I got another one coming off of emule but its gonna take at least a week.

BTW, does anyone have the ISO or the program installed and wouldnt mind uploading it? You could really help me out here if ya do.

I FINALLY got the surface to orbit beam working like it did in regular FS2. For some reason theold way didn't work so I had to improvise from scratch (more of an annoyance, cause the best I can model is a cube and that is exactly what is firing! but it is invisible..)... :P

Matt, I finally got my comp able to make recordings. I plugged in a demo mission for the episode called Blind Game, where you escort lisa in the Cat's eye. I got a mpeg of 21MB now how do I post it?

As a regular attachment? I want to be able to make a link for here and at HLP so people can check it out. Granted it was made 2 years ago and needs a lot more work but it will show you what I am trying to do. Note the veritech colors are all white cuse it is the old mission pluged into the new mod. I am waiting for your skined vt's so then I simply switch in the right colored maps that have the same textures on them and poof they are correct instantly. (like for max [blue] and Roy [white custom]).

This is far from the final result for that mission but like I said I this is as far as I got 2 years ago. The goal is not to keep it up forever but maybe a month or two so it gets noticed and exposed, then deleted to save bandwidth (to me 21 mb is a lot!) well on my comp anyway ;)

I screwed up and deleted the pic he sent, but Accused Raptor (from the HW2 Sentinels Mod) is about 70-80% done with the IZUMO SDF-4 and man it looks just like the show (kinda orangey-red panels with main blue hull) he's starting work on the hangars and turrets now. He mentioned next may be SDF-3 and work continues on the scout invid (finishing the texturing on the regular scout, and then I would assume the more beefy armed one would be made out of the normal scout next. I will check back with him in a week or two and mention that to him.

Also I updated the TO DO list a little by taking out the entry for the Invid Shock trooper and put [DONE!] in its place, as I will later when more models get finished from those lists. Also for WIP's I have names of the modlers next to them for further clarification (I should have done that from the beginning) as you can see Raptor is doing quite a few since his mod IS REF/Invid era and he's really gracious to be sharing his works with us so I can't thank him enough.

I haven't seen heard from Chinaman or Earthpilot for like a while now although I am sure RL is a pain. regardless when possible just look at the list and pick something and post publicly HERE what you intend on working on. I would prefer you start with something small that can be completed fairly quickly in case more RL issues bog you guys down.

Here is a sample of a 2yr OLD mission made with the original tool set (notice the 300 asteroids I HAND PLACED only took me 5 hours to get it satisfactory). This was a test to see if the voice timing would be off (it is a little) when converting my OLD missions to the new project. Some crashed, some worked fine. Anyway this is episode called Blind Game and if you know the show it's the RECON mission where (MIB come and gag me, then flashy thingy you all)...

that is computer recorded to crappy VCR , then crappy VCR recorded by ati-all in wonder 7200 plus it took me ages to get it set right instead of being 300mb for same footage!!! Plus the sound finally matches the video so I can't complain. That's the best quality I can get with my gear... But I'm glad you found it interesting...

He he sure. But I was hoping to recreate the intro to ROBOTECH with allin game footage but the same action as depicted. As more content needed gets done I will attempt it later. For now the atmosphere mix does not look right . It is way too white and too THICK in FSopen. Inthe original mod I mentioned to teh team that it already was a tiny bit thick (more like light fog than clouds) but at least it was flyable. Now in FSopen, that mix is like totally a turnoff. Somehow it will have to be tweaked (anyone knw hwo to do this?

table is basic but has placeholder custom weapon and looks neat in game (Do NOT have .jpg or .tga suppot on or the thruster plumes look fugly!)

for new people instructions in the read me
we use BASIC FS_Open 3.5.6 only -shine and -glow enabled
have fun!

Model is finished (unless soemone wants to do a shinemap for all our invids? ;) ) but table is not final at all!

So I finished the first missile, And a High poly version for when the SCP gets 'SUPER ULTRA HT&L++ EX BETA^3' which will let us use nine million poly fighters, provided we only have 6 or fewer maps for them, (bump, shine, glow1, glow2, animation, GEOmap) but untell that day comes, three months if my source is correct, we'll have to get along with the low poly version.

I've got one shot of the FMV quality, and two of the ingame quality.
Pleese note, the FMV quality has some basic texturing done, and has good lighting. The ingame shots have no texture, and lousy lighting.

From the efforts of Accused Raptor I present our newest unit:

The Armored Invid Scout with Booster!

If you notice it, the eyes and cannons have a subtle glow to them. Teh map was 2048 after I added glows I had to reduce it to 1024 to run in game so you lost visibility. This should still look nice however.

Aside from the clamship (which should be reworked) here are all 4 of the Invid units we have in game (note the Gurab needs to be resized up 1.5 and the two scouts decreased by 75%-50% also the regular scout's legs need to be textured properly but that can wait till later. Matt, Wanna go at it?)

What happened on Hardlight's Forum? They kicked the Robotech-mod's topic or they moved it?

I moved (changed of work), therefore not Internet during more than one month, that's why I didn't post since a long time.

So, i made some optimisation of my heaviest models => Added a Monitor version with the opened Reflex Main gun
And created some Meltran cruisers (Battlecruiser, Gunboat, Carrier-ship: i know, you don't need it)...

Just cause something is not on the list doesn't mean we don't need it :D

Officially we have no Meltrandi meshes, any examples I have shown are from HW1 and Lestat has not given me permission to use them in the mod (permission status has been pending for months, I asked for a update and more months have gone by. Either he is just ignoring me or is just too busy to respond so in either event since it is PUBLIC knowledge how he has to have direct say about his works before they can be used they are to be considered NOT USEABLE by me or anyone else).

Terrenblade dissappeared so no new missiles... (MIA since March)

BTW posts get kicked cause of lack of new postings, I only post to respond or for a release or new information. This is the BEST place for new info as HLP stopped hosting new mods (plus my "team" is not as active).

We got Trashman as main modler but he's spread out over 7 mods. Matthew Hosts the site and forum here (and mod files of last upload), and teaser vids.

I run around like mad all over the net recruiting/searching for more RT/macross meshes.

I know where the first link is (LOL)... I started that thread in Dec 2003 :D I just don't keep it updated much since we moved main messages here and got offcial hosting since I never got significant support on HLP to justify perm hosting but I was about to petition for hosting regardless when the "Project Feeze" came down and Matt graciously offered space on GW.

By hosting I mean:

Our own forums (Lovely aren't they I MADE BUTTONS!!! Ok it's not that exciting, but it was a major accomplishment for me then)

&

Space on the FTP sever for dev files (which haven't been updated in a year as I dont think enough has been completed to do so. plenty of things to fix in them already).

the ref ships that need to eb fixed, one old invid , the old RTmod base. so it;s aroudn 30mb...

My personal build has more liek SDF-1 cruiser mode, all the Invids shown in last screenshot, mode finished alphas and their battloids and a few nicknacks. Some otehr things are not listed like the outside sources not allowed yet or files that have not been fixed for even test conversions (though we are allowed use).

Until trash has time to look at tehm or we get more modlers status will remain unchanged. I do have Trayus looking at the 2048 x 2048 NASA Earth pic I sent him a DL link of. IF he can fix it we will have the most kick arse Earth backgound since TBP. Note I posted it like a year ago with no one wanting to take a crack at it. (note it Does work in game even on my machine which I found very shocking...)

This week-end i tried to make an huge Earth Background with ESA's pic (original pic in 1600x1200), but when you put it on the skybox, your planet is totaly deformed (projection of a disc on a spherical shape). So try without success.

One of my ideas was to have a model made of the factory, but to then take a screenshot of it. Infront of the pic would be one of the arms that would face the player and have that to interact with. That way it still feels to scale but does not affect game performance much... Sorta like cheating... So you can have a fleet come out the arm pod without dealing with the rest of the station in game. The whole model would be used for cutscenes or promos.

(ugh damn flu).. l8tr! Nice work!

2 things: I'm noticing that you don't have a VF-1A? If you never got around to that, one was created for the original mod. If the download's still up, I might be able to find it for you if you want/need it :)

Also, about the Harmony Gold thing earlier; I think Max was actually in talks with Robotech.com to get the original mod linked, but it never went through because the mod died out before that could happen. I'm not sure if their attitude has changed, however.

I'm currently using the VF1-A created by Max for the original mod. And I've done a little modification on the original VF, to make a "Super Veritech" (Fast pack). But I know that there is a special transformable model made (i believe) by Trashman. I don't know exactly if there is always available.

My second atempt to make a short trailer for mod recruitment. I solved the stuttering problem, matching FPS was a good thing! But I shortened the footage to match the audio intro.

This is by no means an end result but at least it's something...

I had to delete the earlier file, DL was dying halfway through.. Try this .rar version



And the second link is a little something for max & miriya lovers.. Forgive the poor quality and lack of editing of dead time... (plus this uses a lot of old stuff).


Links done next post I as am trying to upload them.. apparently the file host I was using is taking 30 mins and that's why dispute 4 sites and over 200 views almost no one has posted comments except for hlp telling me there was a problem.

I'm currently looking for make a first mission on the Macross Island on Earth, i've an Infographist who is making it. The main problem for this mission is the physic Engine, it won't be realistic.

I may also be getting some new Zentreadi models but not sure how they will look as they were specifically made for Space Empires IV (By Atrocities...). He says they are low poly but the pics look fantastic so I am hopeful they can BOTH be converted over and still look good after the transition.

Anyway I am hoping to make a TC for that same game and did a test for The Invid Race. Here is the result. You see the Unit(s) that were built and their tiny combat Icon. Ignore the fighter group pic, the original entry was fro a Zent pod so when more than 1 is displayed a group pic is shown of all fighters and I did not make a pic of all types of Invid (YET) so the defualt pic got used.. I hope you guys like this RTS idea.

AFAIK the only complete robotech RTS mod is a Starcraft one (it's all sprites and I don't even have SC lol) and a defunct Armada II mod. I don't count the Homeworld one cause that is more of fleet battles and NOT empire building.

Space EmpiresIV is VERY much like my favorite RTS game of all time "Birth of the Federation"! However SE4 does not use actual 3d models, just images of them.

I even found the Vasudans had been converted but so far I haven't found our Terrans.
Maybe if I have the time later I will make a FS2 TC? Would you guys like to fight RTS style against the shivans and take over worlds they have conquered? he he...

I will try to learn if I can make HERO units (like maybe a Shivan named CARL [Bane of Raa] - giggle)

He he. having a ball making DVD screens or finding good ones on net. Later I will go back and replace them with suitible meshes in poses. I got permission from Atrocities to use his Zentreadi mod and my first step when it comes to modding them will be a simple facelift for SOME of the images (as many of his existing pics are awesome! In fact I asked about getting a hold of the models the HE specifically made to make those images with!!!). If I can get those then even if they MIGHT need a few more poly's added on or a retexture, they still would fill a LOT of the gaps in the Zentreadi shiplist for the FS2 mod.

I just started the RDF/REF side of the SE4mod. Once all images have been assigned I will then make sure everything works according to defualt tech and then go back and start working on custom tech for each race... Nothing etched in stone as far as that is concerned yet, but I've had soem ideas.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about the Robotech masters! Guess that mean it will be a 4-way for TC. Or later people can just load them on one race at a time as single add on mods.

I found some of AA's work on Battleclinic (A SFC site). I remember long ago he tried to convert some stuff over... Didn't see the Ikazuchi there? Anyway as long as all the meshes are his should be no prob, but I will be asking around there for clarification.

I made some preminary conversions for TESTING ONLY to see if they can be done (some had issues), also for glow mapping. The results speak for themselves...

that IS the Fs open engine... 3.6.5 or .6, as multiple issues/errors crop up in 3.6.7 I had to roll back to make the mod work again. I'll worry abotu finishing FIRST then let someone else convert it over to the newest build in the future...

Got some good news/bad news.

Dan Bickell made the VT's (and has stated on varous sites his work can be used WITH credits included...) Bad news the rocket pods and missles on them are Lestat's ) and it's almost been 2 years since I first asked for permission for his other works so... Until I hear otherwise they are going in (but just the VT's! The HW1 meshes I asked for are NOT going in until I get cofirmation, or a decline from Lestat, even if it takes 2 more years...)

I am legally not able to drive anymore due to double cataracts (at the age of 35) so I'm a little angry about how things are at the moment (including having to be about 6 inches from the screen to read this and corect typos).

Don't mean to vent but I nearly lost it in the Doc's office a few weeks ago and it's been a roller coaster since then. (Can I pay for the surgeries? Will my work get my paperwork in or reject my application for insurance? Can I keep my job long enough to be covered?) these kinds of things have been on my mind lately, ect... So my apologies if I've been uncharacteristic lately in postings or replys (like being short with people).

Enough of that...

I've decided if things go, bad... Then when the time comes, upload everything I have on hand for the mod in the hope that in the future someone revists it and ressurects it (if it comes to that). Of course I won't upload the vocie parts (it's like 1 gig after all), but in regards to the mehses, textures, missions ect... So they have a framework to build on.

Let's hope that does not become necessary.

For the mod, I will continue: I don't know if I would make a campagne or only a serial of missions, it would depend of my time. At the moment, I'm using voices from Max Sterling. I should receive the Macross Island modelized. I don't know yet, how integrate it in the game.

As for the isle, I was going to wait to see how StarFox does things in regards to ground... What they've done with landscapes (buildings and even lighted streetlamps) are great!

Twisted Infinities was also working with ground stuff (tanks, gravity) so I was wondering what their results would do for destroids and other typs of
ground" mecha...

I'm trying to stay fopcused for now and just keep modding what I can.
Trashman will be sending me a version of Storm Attacker soon so I can make some tests in regards to that boldoza fortress.

If it would be alright with you could you send me those new battle pods you made as well as the boosted officer pod? The two cruisers just smaller than the flagship for Zents also I need (Khyron's ship and that monitor next to it). It would be a HUGE help. :D

I've added a shield too to this model, but I don't like the render: the shield blocks only classic turrets, but not beams turrets. If someone knows how to change that...

click one of teh boxes in teh launcher for "beams-non-pierce" that makes beam weapons get blocked by shields (as tehy should be :D)

IT was always my gripe that if shields exist they SHOULD block weapons (unless specially designed to bypass, ala transphasic torps), However each attack drains the shield at diff rates so EVENTUALLY it goes down. Probably with a LONG recharge time if it was brought completely to zero!

Trashman's doing a Storm Attacker version WITH Omni-Barrier in ON mode... So inside the fortress you can see SDF-1 turn ON the barrier AFTER the Reflex multi-missile launch (like an alpha strike). then the fortress blows up around SDF-1. (I may not even need to make it invulnerable or juice hit points as when you are in the center of any exploding model I have never taken damage :D)

Almost forgot (need the Cyclops Recon craft as well - sorry :D)

Which version are you using?? I am using 3.6 - any newer and I get multi table errors that I can't figure out (all ships show an error).

When I am finished building I will let others more knowledgeable about SCP convert it all over.

I'm currently using FRED2_Open3.6.5 (later versions crash down when you display the model), or you can use all last Fred2_open releases but without displaying the model (mapped or wireframe= crash).

You will see, than there are mapping bugs with the Quedol Magdomilla: no bugs with the original model but after the conversion in *.pof.

I haven't even got to weapon errors (yet) I mean literally every ship entry even from stock fs2 (all vasudans, all Terrans, adn all shivans) have gun mount errors? (never heard of that before) and many other "token missing" stuff I have no idea what the SCP did to 3.7/8?, but my tables work no problem at all in 3.6.. maybe it's clashing with mods I don't know. At this point as long as I can continue modding I will use whatever version functions for me with no (or minimal) errors.

Lately the most frustrating thing I have to deal with is multi-textures until I can get them baked down to less maps (ie Like a Valdore with 18 textures for the Trek mod). Show up in FRED fine, but crashes in game.

I've solved all "token missing" errors in my tables. The only ship which is crashing under Fred2_Open3.6.5 is the Regult (don't know why) but run correctly with all later releases. But no errors in-game.

If you want, i will remake a table, i don't remember if i made the one i sent you with the good :lol:

The number of textures by ship is a problem, that's why i'm using always the same. I have converted all big maps in *.dds to accelerate the game.

Nice, I was about to experiement with maps as well (Starting with the old fleet ones from RT1)

Just a couple of comments:

I noticed on the Cyclops that one tiny triangle at teh lower rear left side is OPEN (flip it up and look lower left where teh dome meets teh hull, one of those triangles).

Also one of the engines is listed as a gun normal? maybe it was moved to the back by mistake? I will investigate later...

BTW TY! When they get finished off I will be altering the 2.0 Mod credits (of course) listing them. :D

I noticed you have all fixed turrets. Would you mind later if I had them replaced at some future time with rotating turrets for some emplacements?

Will show a shot later of how they are doing in game... Jugglign projects as usual... Trek, Robotech, (and scouting for others).

[EDIT] I already altered the "To Do" listing on that thread to show those ships are DEFINATELY getting used - thus listing who contributed them. So people only see what NEEDS to be worked on (for the most part they only need minor alterations). Things like the Dolza base need more extensive testing, and other such works may need major changes so I haven't listed those as done YET. So don;t worry, credit will always go to it's proper place if those resources get implimented!!! :D

That was a major boost though! Much Appreciated!

Yes, there is a bug on 1 triangle on my Cyclops :). I know it, but I never tried to fixe the bug for the only one reason than It's totaly invisible in game in rapport with the size of this ship. Yes the gun in the engine is a mistake: i forgot to remove the point (used under PCS to place the engine).

All Zentran ships turrets are fixed in reason of the rotating bug when the turret's base isn't horizontal: The main part of Zentran ships design is complex (in comparaison with the RDF), and a lot of turrets will be affected by the rotating bug: that's why I'm using fixed turrets on Zentran Ships. But if you want add rotating turrets, it isn't a problem.

Woot.. I hadn't been to Lancer's Reactor in ages.. anyway I checked out the last years releases and saw this beauty. It's a shuttle transport type and was originally done as a Star Blazer inspirered design (based on the Black Tiger fighter). I loved it. Experimenting I inverted the colors and was struck that it could fit the REF fleet as well. I contacted the author (Jason Knight) and he kindly allowed it's use, thanks Jason!

I have decided the Stargoose specific slot will be filled by this mesh. It will also do duble duty in it's original textures for Star Blazers as the Yamato/Argo's shuttle or "space boat".

I need to make some minor additions to the texture so it has RDF/REF markings...

believe it or not, it was working on ROBOTECH that inspired thg new beams (The Zent beam was the basis of all the new WWII turret beams). I simply make ONE firing point and center barrel it so it appears all three fire simultaneously. Not the best thing to do i know, but it was something I COULD do.

AA sent me a revised Ikazuchi mesh and it's VERY nice looking!!! The raw test converted over liek butter. Now to add the ball turrets and other mounts. Plus I have to make it slightly bigger. stat is 771 meters I think this attempt is short by 100meters. Final size will be determined by teh veritechs in comparison to it... L8tr!

Got a boost thanks to Model Please of SFC3 modding. He has allowed use of teh missiles he had hosted (various sources) so of course credits will be maintained as he has them. (thanks MP!)

Also though I have MOST of AA's works *including teh new Royal Comand Invid mesh -it;s pink! SERA's I would guess) I still dl'ed a few of teh same models from Batle clinic to see if they would convert. They did fro teh most part adn semed more stable from teh pre-conversion process so I may be using some of them. AA greelighted teh VT's earlier so things are lookign quite good for us ATM.

I could be losing net access really soon due to a move to a completely new area (no utilities constructed yet) so while I don't now for how long, it shouldn't be longer than a few weeks when it happens.

So if I disappear don't panic immediately! (does not mean project abandoned or dead. Now if 3-4 MONTHS go by with no word from me, be concered "D)...

Now if I can only garuntee that I can get my car moved when it's time (catacart surgery on eye #1 May 3rd) since I haven't been able to drive it physically in the last 2 months. I really pressed my luck there and it simply became too unsafe. It kinda crept up on me and it was quite a shock to hear from teh doctor that I had teh big C in notjust one eye, but BOTH. Apparently I was compensating with my left eye for a long time befiore

Long story short, it sucks but like everyting else I am dealing with it and just wanted to keep you all updated :D...

Crikey! I almost forgot.. Can you position the RBC the way we got the aplha battloid? That way it looks like it's interacting/fighting.. Like in a half-flying half-standing mode so it looks good both hovering or moving around..

I was gonna try later with my mech turret thingy so tje arms/heads would track and look at targets, but that is in the future...

I need to talk to Star Fox team soem day soon about how skyboxes and landscapes work.. Don't know if goign that route would be better than the (ship in a box) idea I posted 2 years ago... It may affect how I go about city design as I started converting macross buildings for teh island you later see inside the ship (hospital, military base, park, residents/apartments businesses, ect...

Yechnically NO.. However I was gonna do some fun joke type parodies with melee type weapons that the player basicly "RAMS" then into the enemy.. In theory it shuld work but I have been too busy to try to make a Gundam model with a beam saer handle "for testing".. This RBC model howere is perfect fro a forward lance type...

Hey AA can you do me a HUGE favor? I want to do teh Battle tech test. Basicly you make a swivel point inteh middle of teh model body. Seperate teh upper chest from teh legs. That will be the BASE or Z axis plane left right.

Nxt the Arm will be the turret arm itself..

So what would eb coll is that it has a LIMITED range of motion torso turning and limited arm raisign /lowering// I think that would make it more "lifelike"

Of course it might not work, but if it does would be more interesting no?

Regardless I would need both types normal and "psuedo turret" one for testing, plus it wouldn't be good for a player option. (only the normal one would be).

How's that sound?

Look an actual Screenshot!

Messed around with Nico's (Venom) skybox and ground thingy... Had to make the ground glow so you could see it, also the sky was a stormy night so I lightened it. However it was still too dark towards the sun (which it now blocks out and is a problem, how can you get sun glare from darkness :P.

Anywhoo I make sky glow and that made full daylight (yay), just a tad bright so of course I will be tweaking it till I feel it's good. This is all temp just to see what happens and what can be done (especially since I have to work with it).

Switched to imageshack, photobucket resized it for no reason 3 times now by half, I never changed my settigns, WTF..

And you won't. It was never in Macross, only Robotech (and at that a varient of the established Horizont class you see Scott Bernard escorting when his fiancess Marleen is killed (she was a ops member on board).

As you can see the REF needed an updatedAWACS unit so AA made the Hawkeye out of a normal Horizont. All models are unarmed until after the Invid invasion then they redesigned the series of Horizonts and their varients.


As for the gerwalk editing the old pof works, but I was hoping to have a better looking one made from the parts of the newer fighters (though someone pointed out they are still lower poly than I would like, I think the mapping is better on them).

The fighter is the faster with an high maniability, the Beta: slower and less maniable but with a increased firepower and the Legioss with a speed average and an awesome attack power.

In fact, I'm using a special one designed for the inferno mod (fs2_open_r-inferno-20050918): no bugs with the music in *.ogg or the fs2_open_r-P420060116.exe (3.6.7): more programming functions but, bugs with the music.

Engines glows are coming from the Zpack. For the Macross mod, I made a mix between some builds to get a result conform to my feeling. :yes:

Would it make much difference if I tried to DL taht build as a test? OR would havign you upload your exe adn fred zipped/rared be abetter idea?

I recently tried running mod in 3.6.9 and ran into hundreds of table errors. Even when simply modifing existing ones of only name and pof entries not touchign anything else...? I want to see if it happens again with another build. It did this when I tried 3.6.7 as well.

i don't have any error with my tables when I launch FS2_open with these two builds. But i've made a big debug to use FS2_Open_3.6.7.

The only one problem with my build is that canon beams disappear when the object limit is exceed. (This object number limit has been increased with the last builds)

I'd like to know more about how it works. (I seen it work for Nuke's Phoenix).

Would be great is we could make SLOW ones for 2 things in Particular, SDF-1 Deadelus attack, and lowering of the main gun booms from verticle to horizontal (targeting from null Z1.0 to X1.0 plane). Careful fredding would then make them more believable.

How many seperate anis can a object have?

BTW those look awesome, but the Valk (BT Wasp) is amazing!!!!

Standing is perfect, but teh right arm crouch should be replaced, that elbow-shoulder black joint is twisted.. those peices can and should rotate/move according to their imagined axis of course.

A simple swap of left joint copied and oriented into position should fix that error. Not important, but my eye was immediately drawn to it.

MOST important of all, have you pof.ed it and tested it in game? (Shot it to check geometry)???

I'm really sorry, but I've a big problem with the model.
He is perfect in all 3d software: Milkshape, 3dsMax8, Truespace, but in converted in POF, some polygones are mapped from the wrong side!

When I think than I taked 1 hour to get the good position for the VF :mad2:

I've made an highly detailed ARMD yesterday based on a *.3DS model; with the same problem...

The solution could be to contact the maker to get an original model.

I did'nt take your ARMD but an other model for working base. But they are very similar, maybe the same source. I must try to convert your ARMD to see if I get the same problem.

There is no link to the models: you must download the Mechmod and decompile it to extract the models. (Use Milkshape for that)

Only two models are interesting for us: the Valkyrie and the Monster.

Slightly better Gerwalk. Has an issue though as FRED crashed but it works fine in game by manual table edit (ship pof file change to sneak in). Friggen sweet texturing, I ahd to reduce it from a 2048 to 1024 of course...

IDK if Rowhider extracted the VO maps or not, cause they really aren't that bad. I'm curious how the male armor will turn out when I get it into position and can view it complete instead of a central pile...

If it turns out as good as the battle pod looks I will be VERY happy!

For comparision the closer firing VF-1S is a VO model, the second a Dan bickell/Lestat one. So for now I'm going with the VO in this case.

Just converted the standard fighter. It's just a hair better than the original mod version BUT instead of white this one is more metallic looking (I likey). It does however have a slight sliver underneath the nose/cockpit that is missing but it's so tiny unless you specifically look for it you wouldn't normally notice it.

Hopefully when I can get someone to modify and insert the cockpit in the fighters they can take care of that..

The canopy needs to be transparent and the cockpit model poly reduced (lots of unneeded details), plus need to stick a pilot in there (I got something we can alter).

Gonna finish workign on the vf1j and vf1s series (I posted the Super Strike fighter earlier)

The S series will have Fast packs but the Super Strikes have the dual pack mounted gun as seen before.

Roy's fighter will be a VF1S-a because his never got the fast packs. (he died too soon). SO I need both versions of that fighter...

I just hope the gerwalks I need to assemble from the VO pieces don't become unstable like the battloids are! Otherwise it'll be a lot of wasted time. (that's why I'm working on the fighter modes FIRST).

I'd just like to butt in here - if you're talking about the old RT mod, that wasn't really a demo. :) At least technically - it was more like an Alpha/Beta release.

The R1 Mod was a huge inspiration to me (and I'm sure to others).

I definitely would say Alpha due to lack of real missions, but as a construction kit it was top notch! I managed just by using it to make at least 8 missions (that with slight editing) will be ported over to the new mod.

UT, can you give me a list of the ENTIRE original Mod Team?

I just know of you, Max, & Gortef. There were others right?

Yup, bottom of page 8 you can tell startign witht eh zent ship and the patrol fighters (wing lights and tip lights and misc little things like head lamps, etc..) each valk from macross saga has about 10 things that glow on the dark side (I didn't want the glows to be overwhelming in brightness). I am VERY happy with the results. I did not do glows for M7 valks yet...

I don't know how to do shine I think I tried to make a greyscale normal map and just call it shine after making it a 8bt pcx..

Is that possible or do I need to mess with crap I don't understand like Photoshop? I've asked this before..

I make glow maps with irfranview in minutes... cheap and easy

Shinemaps are easy to do - to make a quick one, take the image and play with the contrast/value settings until the shiny parts are bright and the dull parts are dark :)

I don't know if that's a very good idea to add shine/Glow-maps on fighters: for the soft, there are 2 maps more to load. So you will need a big Graphic memory...
For big missions with hundred fighters, I tried it and I get a big slowdown. :(

But now, my computer is pretty old (Athlon64 3500+ 1Go RAM, 6600GT), so...

You should have see it on a p2 400 with 32mb rage voodoo card... That's when I started this continuation and due to table error had 300 enemy veritechs POP in!

Now that's slowdown!

It did get me curious how much retail could really take so I did a little experiment back then...

Count the ships if you can! Each side had 25 caps and like 50 fighters (could of been 100 I forgot)...

This was back when I tried to do an "all mod" the best of the best of what was released.
The enemy had Imperials, Zentreadi, Shadows, Borg and misc ships.
While the "Good Guys" Had the Minbari, and various single ships like SDF-1, Warlock, some EA Novas, some Battlestars, and a few other cap ships

The fighter compliments were made up of Vipers, X-wings, Herc3's,Star Furies, Nials, and Veritechs.
Also Tie Fighters, Zent pods-fighters-quadranos, Cylons, and a few Shivans in lieu of Shadows.

I don't know if that's a very good idea to add shine/Glow-maps on fighters: for the soft, there are 2 maps more to load. So you will need a big Graphic memory...
For big missions with hundred fighters, I tried it and I get a big slowdown. :(

But now, my computer is pretty old (Athlon64 3500+ 1Go RAM, 6600GT), so...

You can always just disable them. :p

Also, unlike soem other ships RT cap ships from VO now have only 1-2 maps base as opposed to some fs2 caps that have several...

so in the long run those ships use LESS maps in comparision to FS2 ones even with glow and shine maps... SAme for fighter/battloid/gerwalk units. Thought there are 3 maps per unit if you count htem all as "fighters" it;s not that bad.

There will be more choice in units than GTVA total I think.

Long story short, if it's playable on my current system, it should be playable for most other people (and like UT just mentioned they can turn those options off as needed)...

Some good news, looks like MP is starting on making the meshes based off the HW1 models I sent to him to use as a reference.

Oberth needs some better outer guns but is nice.

The female shock armor is sweet! (a VO model) no screenies yet but I plan on convertign them and testing soon.

Hey mp, did you alter Rod's vf-4 aside from textures? I cant really tell offhand, but if so please send it. :)

Anyway I got the RBC's from AA and almost finished alpha versions.

Missiles will temporarily fire from the chest slits until I can figure out how to have them erupt from the back like they are supposed to (opposite direction)

Also Corg's trim is yellowish instead of orange but I'm working on it (fighting with photoshop)

So no screens yet. I hadn't even done a blow up test yet, but they are ready otherwise (thrusters, main gun, missiles)...

Really? I just hadn't had the time to dedicate to this minor thing but I had an idea for it with just irfranview and no layers....

Not complicated, just time consuming. Still lets see what procedure you come up with.

Try to think outside the box... regardless I will try my hand at it next weekend and see if I can get it done over those 3 days (unless the boss has me work again).

If I (with no skills) succeed and you have nothing to show on Monday AFTER I have posted soemthing, you fail... If we both have nothing it's a draw. :) That's fair isn't it?

The type 5 Invid have arrived... Corg and Sera (in the yellow and pink trim respectively).

Of course there is thruster bleed through from the feet, I'll try lowering the point later to see if it helps mask it.

I don't even know what that means, let alone why I'm still getting errors in the main mod from porting so I have stopped all that kind of effort for now to concentrate on more immediate concerns....

Anyway I just got Takashi's file and before I even look at it THIS is what I did before Friday... Note it's just a replaced beam image but it worked and could be tweaked dimension wise later. It's a 64x512 pic with 5 or 6 colors in a row and you can see them all. Table editing will only improve it...

Your image is very close to my own.. I have more and brighter colors, your image looked more green yellowish but the result is clear you were very close to what I wanted so you pass... I am a man of my word.

HOWEVER I have to be brutally honest and ask a few things.

Where did I see that missile and HEATER image from before? I think I have it on one of my drives.

That red and white particle .ani loosk like it came from the Media VP's

Lastly, Simply put that "firework" ani looks more suitable for a shield hit.

as for the firework, i was going for what i saw on the 4th of july. (yes, the fireworks here actuly are like that). well, you can always make a species with funny shield hits...

have you tryed putting whiteblob as a texture on an orb and giving it whiteparticle as a particle spew?

You will find joined: reworked maps of the Macross VO models.
Maps upgraded from 256x256 to 1024x1024 and totaly reworked. The result looks much better than the original one.

Don't take this the wrong way.

All of those EXCEPT the Gerwalk.net fighter mode has been posted by me previously... (In this thread)

Brookstech texture pack for all VO fighter models and second pack released was the texture upgrade. He also did the RDF ghost and (Sharon apple version I think).

I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I got a storm attacker mesh for testing purposes only from Stratagos (who also sent me Great Mazinger).

I don't remember if it's capable of pofing, but it's on my future to do list.
(ATM I'm juggling RT, Trek, SB, fanfiction, Anarchy Online, Generals ZH, and depression)

What exactly are you asking me? And what do you mean you only have 2 transformations? You mean you can no longer change mode?

In your "EVENT" you have to have it in every mission you make and it has to be there for all ships you want to do it (but it's tricky cause for wingmen unless you want everyone to change WITH you each time YOU decide to do it) they need separate sexp's. And if you got more than 3 ships-alpha wing on your side that's a real pain in the ass!

You need to enter 999 in the field box for number of times event happens, so when you hit 1-key you goto fighter mode, 2-key for gerwalk mode, and 3-key for battloid mode. You should be able to go to any of the three modes at least 998 times apiece!

That's what I do...

Er are those models stable, meaning have you blown them up yet and had enemies kill them with no crash? I had a lot of trouble with the Gerwalk.net ones when I tried to convert them (they always caused a crash, never knew why). I never did see a pure fighter one before.

If it's ok with you I'd like to get your stable ones for testing and then compare them in game with the VO ones (screens only go so far). If I remember correctly the Gerwalk.net ones had a bigger more resolution map than VO's even after the makeover by Brookstech.

Following my previous question:
When I put a big value for the repetition event count: it transforms my Valkyrie the number indicated! So, maybe I forget something...

So my converted model is very stable at the moment, but I use *.DDS maps(5.5Mo), lighter than the Huge 12Mo *.TGA map...
I loosed my Sunday to make other maps... :lol:

Do you want Closed screens?! I say: that's the most beautiful Valkyrie Model i've seen.

So the transformation really work 999 time for you?! I use the Key-reset training function, but don't work after 2 transformations. :hoppingma

I've a bug with the model: It won't detect collisions each time :(
Difficult to be hit with guns, a little bit easier with missiles. No pbs by the Valkyrie face, pb: by the rear


In the *.max model, do you have the animation: so i've exported the model in *.3ds after put it in the good transformation.

In clear, you have all three mods in the same file.

AH IC... And no I don't have .max programs or .max file conversion capability.

Whenever I find a .max file or someone sends me one, I need another person to convert it to some format I can open like .lwo, .3ds or plain old .cob (preferred) when possible... That really slows me down and limits my options.

I have not tried the change mode since the latest build so maybe I should try it again to check... I've really been busy with out of game things/tasks...

walker to plane etc.( i dont know the names..)
Could you make it almost like a jump out and in sequence and then change the
warp animation to a mode switch animation....
Then just swap the pilot into a different ship... maybe this wouldnt be fast enough for a game though... that is my 2cents...

If you want it to be accurate to Robotech it can't say UN SPACY, that's Macross. :)

oh, and one thing I was really good at was making Anis.

Especially if you have video I can cut it from... of course the problem with the ani transformation is it would be the same from ANY angle, so if you were watching from the bottom and the ani was from the side it would look really weird to see the ship blink sideways and then back...

Problem is people use ani interchangeably now...

The original question was about a Med-High poly model rigged to physically transform, not a camera illusion. It is definitely possible, but to me seems very complex. I would rule that sort of thing out unless we got someone int he future on board who is comfortable with how the new ani system works for SCP.

If you missed it Max, nuke and some others have made fighters with moving parts/panels).

Their progress help bring back my motivation for the Super Robot Wars idea I had. (and thus benefit RT also by related content).

Hi! Last news: a new Earth with a real atmosphere. I've added an Alpha chanel layer to my texture. The result looks very realistic.
I get rendering bug when i use the Object camera view, but no bugs at closed distance.
Like the Atmosphere is real, you get a colision when you try to go inside.
Last step: a real-time rotating planet with moving atmosphere :lol::D
I've more detailed textures, but it would take too much memory (16Mo for this one)

Rowhider - Have you tried Omniscaper's Earth? How does that compare? (I was struggling with new SCP at the time it came out so never really got around to trying it.)

I didn't tried the Omnicaster Earth, so I can't compare with. I tried yesterday an Earth with an ultra-super-huge map: you need 350Mo of memory only for this model :naughty: Pb, my video card can't display this one properly. :doubtful:

The Gerwalk Valkyrie model is the same (I believe), you just need 3dsmax to read the transformation animation and get the 2 other models. :nod:

I will check the model size to see if I can send it by an email.

I did, in some places there is too much spacing like the parts are not connected. I like the mapping, but the poly count/stress doesn't justify using them as is...

I looked in the vp's... I had not noticed there were separate ones aside from the species ones. I'll have to figure this out later. Why would you need more than one map for a thruster? Why not treat it like retail?

Very nice... Looking forward to seeing strike and fast pack versions later on.

BY any chance Turambar would you like the VF22s from Macross II to mess with? I could do something with it BUT it'd look lame as parts do not mesh right and would appear missing like a flat plane for wings and missing undercarriage in other modes, etc... Plus the texture sucks!

Incidentally Kt"Hyla made the jet pack into a cruiser and I did convert that successfully as it's own creature LOL! It's way less poly than the original file jet pack and could be mounted on the mecha once the core is redone, that is if you are interested... M2 is a side thing after all (But I use it in my fanfic, etc)...

In case no one noticed things have been super slow and I took a hiatus and still am for time being.
