It seems someone posted the link to the ISO files on a really active board and the massive downloading managed to use up 90 GB of bandwidth in less than 6 hours thus shutting GW down due to that it has exceeded its limit by over 10 GB (this was their mistake because I told them to shut access down when access was 10 GB below the limit but they diddnt and they are still making me pay for it!). At the present I owe $10 and would like to owe not much more so keep the downloading of large files to a minimum please. Thank you all and I hope the downtime (approximately a day) diddnt effect anyone too badly.

ok, in regard to this, i am glad that i made the decision to keep the Mods for Origins and Mercenaries where they were, at present i plan to only use the GW server for the website. If you could keep us with our current levels that would be good though, just in case something should happen. This is good because when we download our files, it won't affect your bandwidth.

This problem is going to be gone in about 9 days (next billing cycle). After that there will be no worries and you will all have more disk space as well. Until then we have to fight through it.

do you need financial assistance to help offset the monetary damages?

No. Thanks for the offer, the gesture is appreciated but it wasnt that bad. It could have been though is what scares me. http://www.game-warden.com/forum/images/smilies/nervous.gif If that free-for-all download were to continue a few more hours it could have put be back like $80.

Limit on which files specifically? The websites and forums should be file since they are <200 kb each. Lets figure this out.

I am willing to use up to 7 more GB worth of stuff before everything gets shut down.
(I think these conversions are correct.
1 GB = 1,024 MB
1 MB = 1,024 KB
So.........
1024*1024=1048576
1048576 KB *10 units= 10485760 KB
The absolute maximum page view size (NOT average) is 200 KB.
10485760/200=52428.8

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF MY MATH IS WRONG!!! :) I have never been good at math...

So 10 GB worth of page views will take us to 52430 views. We will probably be OK if we keep refreshing to a minimum. Since no one has actually uploaded anything important to the new FTP lately I will probably remove access to those accounts only until the next billing cycle (PM me if u have a problem with that.)

*hopes the site will be up forever and ever now*

Ok, I worked out things with my host. Things should all be fine from now on. I will now be paying extra for all bandwidth used from now to 7 days but mere usage of the forums shouldnt add up to much.

I still can't thing of how they downloaded 90gbs of FS2 files in 6 hours. Thats 15gb an hour. :eek2: We will find out when the huge influx of n00bs flood HLP.

I hope it wasn't me, I posted the link at the FS2 forums on Gamefaqs for one person who needed a file. But, he used another provider. But' I know there isn't that many people on the FS2 forum. Unless one of those idiots passed that link on down. :hoppingma

I'll go ahead and say I'm sorry if it was me. :(
