It's kinda sad when their instruments appear to be more modern and of better construction then their artillery.

Actually i think those are sort of early warning devices to designed warn from approaching bombers in the time when the radar had not yet been invented.. That is using those 'tubas' to enhance the noise caused by bombers flying at high altitude.

Wanderer is correct. They are actually designed to collect sound so that they can hear incoming aircraft and know where to point their AAA (you can see the guns to the right of them).

They're the wrong shape for sound-ranging. They'd be wider.
And the guns to the side are pretty clearly 75mm howitzers.
