My harddrive died...

My laptop's HD died, today, and along with it all my Starfox mod work. After Anthrocon, I'm going to spring for a new one, as well as look for HD data recovery services.

Till then, I'm running from my external harddrive. :<

Edit: I have an older laptop HDD. It's a 4200rpm, 40 gig, I think... Its in storage since I upgraded to a 7200 rpm 75gb model... I wonder if I should offer to unload it here >..>

Edit2: By "older" I mean its about a year old at this point. Just older than the HDD I put in here recently... Only been used from about August 2005 to February 2006.

Hmmm... that means the Great Fox model is lost? :(

I was lucky when one HDD died once. I was able to make a quick backup of everything, but it took forever, cause it made many read errors.

For my next PC I plan to use a Raid-3 or Raid-5.

Aaaah. Back from anthrocon.

Okay, now for replies...

AC is fun if you don't mind all the [censoreds] flying about. Sure, it's not completely public since they have to have everything that's publicly displayed kid safe, but it doesn't take trying to find, that's for sure. I think it's mostly in the artists' alley and dealer's room, though. Well, except for 2's rant. I gave my review on that in my DA journal, though, so no need to repeat.

Fun stuff, though, Tom Smith and Timothy Albee were there. They's cool people.

No need to sell my the drive. I'm buying a new 100GB one :P Pleeenty of space.

Backups? Genius that I am, didn't have any. Which is why I'm so keen on data retrieval services...

The GreatFox model was, alas, lost. But I think I'd have remade it by this point, anyway... >.>

Wheesh. Data retrieval is expensive.

My new HD arrived yesterday ( :O! ), so I've been slowly working it back into a state of livedness. Which means changing all the settings I tweaked over the years and installing numerous programs... You know the drill.

I don't think I'll be doing much mod related this week since this upcoming Saturday, I leave for a week long fiddle school session. I hope we get the same building as the harpers, again...
