I am in Game design right now and I am learning some photoshop goodness. Our project today was to make a DVD cover for a game that interested us...so this was the result!

The Shadows of Lylat font and glow gives it quite an amateurish look. Also there should be some note about StarFox being a Nintendos' trademark.

where did you get the original images from? I've been looking for those for quite some time.
If you like using white glows I suggest at least using black lettering for your words. Oh and different is mispelled on the back portion.
It's a good start for your first try at Photoshop!

Hehe, nice to see somebody work on fan content for us. :)
Anway, we won't use any pictures from Nintendo in the game
Using a screenshots or a render from SoL as basis would give the whole thing a more unique look. It's also a harder task. (A challange?) ;)
A few suggestions:
I know you you've just started, but there are a few things that can make it better without much work.
The font... It's not too bad, but can proabably find something better.
When you work with PS, you'll need a LOT of fonts. So start looking for them. ;)
The glow it also a bit too strong. Looks more like fog.
The scenes. It's one really old shot and a loacding screen.
Dunno, the loading screen would be better for the DVD cover than a preview picture.
The placement could also be better. The picure on Fox' head irritates me for some reason.
So... keep it up.

www.dafont.com is a great place for fonts, but as it might be slow at times. right now it even seems down.
great work though, as it is your first try, EVER.

The FAQ reads that the authors will say whether it's freeware or shareware or whatever.

Looks nice m8, try lowering the opacity of the white glow a little.. and a tip for that sort of effect... drop the stroke round it and set the main fill to 0% that way you will see through it... but you will still have the glow around it...
If you need any photoshop tips gimme a shout and i will see what i can do to help.
I dont post a lot here... i beilieve my last post was asking for models a LONG time ago (which they were nice enough to give me... older versions of them though :D)

My only suggestion would be, on the back cover, to move those little preview pictures into a straight row at the very bottom. You could have 3 or 4 of them, and they wouldn't be covering any of the Fox team's faces. You might have to make them a little smaller though. But yeah, I looooove your choice of using the SNES versions of the fox team. Really good work.

even though fox's appearence is invalid ever since they were officialy changed to anime-style characters? sooon....the fan made title screen will surface...and fan submitted music...
