will fill request for:

moddels (concept art required, you UV map unless i feel like it or you request that too)
textures (UV map, moddel, and a list of prefferred colors required. formats: .cob, .3ds, anything truespace can open texture types: .tga)
logos (concept art optional, color list and mental picture prefferred)

any other stuff may need extra requirements (such as conversion and turreting)

programs i may and will use:

3dsmax 7 (NEW!)
blender 2.4 a
truespace 3.2
lithunwrap
photoshop CS 8
3d exploroer (NEW!)
moddelview
POFCS

i can only take 2 request at once. concepts only make things go faster.

A FS ship is not required, but if you want to go and make a model, go ahead. I wish just some art work. I'll give you something to look apon.

This ship is advanced and could only be used for the liberator which is the most advanced ship in the fleet (the Liberator is the ship that is described in my thread. Like I said, it's not really what I want, but it's close!

Ok? A modelled cocpit can (and should for in game use) be modelled with less than 1000 polies. So... where are the other 43,000 from?!


For FS, 103 turrets is waay too many. (I would imagine that in any game its waay too many)... especially on a ship that has a cocpit (fighter? :wtf: )

i could show you one turret and let you make your decision on how i modded freespace to make 6barrels possible.

hint: 2 n 1

edit: a screenshot escapes me, so i converted it to a .cob and gave it only 3 firing points for those who didnt hack the tables to allow more than 3 firing points.

this turret is or public uses. and yes, i know truespace is something many people hate, but its the only way to make firing points. so import!

this is the turret that covers the the sides. they get taller twoards the middle. just wait n' see. the whole ship. looks like a fusion of the GTVA collusus, the lucifer, and an imperator. and all those beam weapons below the cockpit rule. (yes i did an in-game test. time to make a less detailed bridge. 1 frame per second is sucky. (the "cockpit" of a capship)

I have nothing that can view cobs. Just a screeny with wireframe would suffice. Needless to say Im almost certain that you had no reason to use so many polies.

one turret. thats a diifferent turret, the other one looks liike a streetligt. that one is duplicated 25 times for a laser array. the back end is usualy attached to a fitting area on the main ship. that way, no face intersections. this ship will take a awhile to finish. so keep waiting for what will slow your game down and destroy those pesky enemy fighters.

ps: the turret makes a great fighter.

i make the ship in seperate parts, and ut it together in truespace. with some FREDing and table edits, the whole thing can brake up into different ships. fighters, carriers, a juggernaut class, a cruiser, and a support ship.

the first fighter bay is in its finishing stages. be warned, this thing is HUGE. it probably will be bigger than your screen, so dont worry about LOD.

yes. this moddel has launch tubes with turrets, beam cannons, and missles protecting them.

BTW, I must disapoint you. Beam cannons are not the original feature. It takes too much power and onla fter the intervention of higher force can they be added.

If you are too advance in the model, let them be, other wise, the ship only has heavy lasers, torpedoes, missiles, and plasma anti-capital ship weapon (which I'm thinking of removing, but I'm not sure yet). Like I explained in my thread, plasma weapons take a lot of power, so it's one of the special features the Liberator has.

And again, holy frak it's gonna be a magnificent ship!

not only does the brightness of the lights included in turreting make it bright and vaugley detailed, but im zoomed way out so you can see the basic shape of the thing...

the whole thing is crappy and detailess. i need to finish something this big in pieces. so i start with turrets, make missle/fighter bays, make launch tubes, redo the bridge, make a funtcioning cockpit view wth anti-glare on the multi-part turrets, find a powerful enough computer to convert it to a POF and do all those 100+ normals/firning points, and do more in-game tests. then the final release. wish the main body would even fit on my screen.... i have to use 2 monitors at the moment.

So it can do "stuff".

Edit: Is there any way you could give us small, day to day (or couple of days) progress report. So that we see. We are all so impressed.

I want you to make them USRN fighters. As I know not Terran or Shivan designs, I cannot tell you. Something around BSG style :nervous: with shields and lasers. My fighters are bigger then the normal Viper, hence the better equipment. So...

UT is completely right takashi. Stuff like zooming out in a 3d application and saving compressed jpg images are 101 stuff for anyone doing any graphic work with computers.

If you are having trouble with that stuff, don't be afraid to ask how to do it.

such a tiny tidbit... well, thats just part of a launch tube array with a whole buncha laser turrets...you can only see the top of the launch tube...

atleast you know your fighters will be defended by all those the first 4 Km of there journey past the launch tube.

You might want to go easy on the gun things, with them packed together so close they wont have a full range of motion to target enemies. They are likely to either entangle themselves or worse shoot one another which would be FUMTU. Fewer widely spaced gun things would be more effective since they would have a better fields of fire. Put simply the current setup is an example of the law of diminishing marginal returns.

I must agree with StarSlayer and others, that's a tad too much. Sure you have a lot of fire, but... No lauch tube is covered with so many lasers. And considering where they're gonna be on the hull, there are no only too many turrets, but they're facing a wrong direction.

thats the launch tube on the top. just a little deviation. i'll make them rotating turrets and space them too...but you'll have to do the adding of firing points yourself. its just too annoying trying to see through all those lights.

anyway: bad news:

the big ship is gone! it ended its life at 75k polies and died due to a hard drive crash, which it probably caused anyway. all i have now is a few turrets and a hangar ;_;

Any hope of saving it? There are saving programes that alow you to get the lost data back yourself. Sure you didn't hear the drive give out some strange voices. Cause I can't believe that a file could cause a dish to crash. It's usualy a bad sector, some hardware problem that is never connected with software. I know, I've had my number of disk problems, luckily I always got the info back, cause it only caused a restart of the sistem and 10 seconds of work in BIOS (it screwed up the boot commands).

Sorry to hear that. Keep us posted.

I think what he meant is all the disk swapping caused the system to find that bad part of the hard drive.

yeah...i do all my work off of a thumb drive....

maybe that made it screw up?

the PC is NTFS. the drive is in FAT32. i knew there would be a problem, but the format software never did anything.
