As of now all roles are not cast or even listed. If you want to post a sample for rough evaluation that's fine by me.
When the situation changes in regards to VA I will make note of it here on page 1.
When a VA has been locked for a role it will be noted on the list. A role will be discussed for change ONLY if a more suitable one is stumbled on. Once the script is done however, there will be no discussions on role changes.
I'll also be casting for Macross 7 related bits (for related vids and easter eggs).

Well count me in, I did community theatre for years, took broadcasting and got my FCC license years ago. Plus while in college did MC and DJ work. SO anything ya need I can help.

Thought I'd keep everyone apprised here:
MP: Send me a sample or two of pilot chatter if ya want ;) (linky or mail I need to check my mail *runs*)
RA: I got your samples and was happily surprised at the amount of effort you did.
Were you aware that Brief 1 was a very passable Bruno J Gloval? (might need a little work like making it deeper and a slight more annunciation, but if you want it that role is yours...) :)
Brief 2 and leader 1 both sound relatively the same (?) so I'd like to have that voice as the "trainer" you get for Vermilion. After stuff happens That character either dies or gets promoted and Rick Takes over Vermilion as per cannon. You probably see him later for training on the Super Veritech (and other optional missions)
Leader 2 would be good in my opinion as a cap ship voice like Armor 2 (ARMD). Just cause it gets destroyed doesn't mean there aren't survivors that can be used later on. A good support voice I think.
I like Leader 3 as a good generic wingman/squad voice. - TBA later
Good job on the Zent test. Might want to go a touch easier on the echo(?) some words were hard to make out and bled together.
Pilot 1&2 sound like the same unsure newbie pilot that is fine for generic wingman. - TBA later.
SO all in all every voice type you submitted would probably be used for development.
Let me know about your decision on Goval, I debated on if it sounded more like him or Lang. Gloval has a heavier accent (as a Russian) and Lang talks a bit faster higher pitch than him (German).
Like they say in Starship Troopers, "IF you want it the Job is your until you get killed or I find someone better." ;)
Note actual script dev will be a long ways off still. Mission resources and game technicalities come first on priority.

You're the boss. You tell me what you want and I'll do it, authors create, directors coordinate, and actors re-iterate after all. I was actually going for the accent of a Gloval-ish voice (I say '-ish' as I need to re-review some of the dubs, and that was just a first pass I didn't rehearse it). Pretty much everything I left for you was first pass material. That was actually done with very little effort, as I didn't want to over work it without having a better idea of what you needed. I just threw some blurbs together and took shots at them.
Most of the work I did was just variations on the same theme, as you noticed. The only thing I didn't do as a first pass was the Zentradi test, just playing around with possible settings. But all in all, if you want to use those clips be my guest but when I get actual scripts (willing to assist if need be) I can bear down on it all better.
I was just pumping them out fast, I know what it's like to operate on a schedule so I figure the sooner the better. In the mean time, I would be happy to take on the Gloval role, as you said unless you find someone better (or I get killed, which I really hope doesn't happen too soon).

Heh, it's just a figure of speech :nervous: anyway for a quickie that was pretty damn good.
Dont worry about a "scheduel" for now I just wanted to give peeps a chacne to send stuff in for consideration as thigns are kinda slow and it's not a bad idea to see if RT like voices are out there.
SO I guess we nailed down Henry J Gloval... Others to be announced later (TBA). I'll edit page 1.

Well like I said a few weeks ago, I really do have extensive performing background. If I wasn't so bitter and pragmatic when I was younger I might have tried to make a career of it. But hey it is what it is. I'm just used to working on no budget projects (which I usually end up financing) and working until 5 am (when I have work at 7 am) making sets or costumes to meet deadlines. Not having to work on a schedule is... odd, but refreshing.

No rush, I just kept getting mesages about VO so I thought I would go ahead and get a thread started to see what people post.
RA really surprised me! He def is our Gloval, and I want him for Captain Kramer (he'll be Vermilion leader for a while until plot changes stuff).
Kramer will be the Demo mission trainer (see he lost a poker game with Roy and got stuck with his newbie flight duty...) :D
Don't worry RA, I haven't forgotten you. It was just way too early for an actual implementation with all the mesh work that needs to be finished first. Plus I am having issues with new SCP versus older SCP (the post 3.6 is not recognized by 3.9 even doing as Mav suggested and taking out all those entries in the tables, same token errors listed. The token errors are false.
I'm not a coder, so I'm not going to bang my head against the wall uselessly. Please be patient. I'll have to definitely rebuild everything from scratch into 3.6.9 (or .10 by the time I get around to this). I knew for a while this was the probable outcome, but had been procrastinating for months.
Max, looking forward to hearing your demo though. I'll give my honest opinion as to how I think you compare with the cast. You going for your namesake or have anyone in mind?

Well, I actually do a very good Russian accent, but if you have one already for Gloval then its fine. Really, as a VA I can do multiple voices and you probably would not be able to tell they were all me. I could probably nail Dr Lang if you actually need him for anything - my German accent is probably my best.
I did read that you might use voices from the show, which would be really cool-- except many of them are going to have music in the background which would probably be difficult.
Of course I'd love to be Max if you need me for him. I'd have to listen to him again, since his voice is more "normal" its harder to imitate than characters like Gloval with a certain pitch and accent.

You just put me where you need me. I know I kinda jumped the gun on this and all, but I am plenty aware that there is much, much work that needs being done before my contribution to this project can be applicable. I wait patiently.
The truth of the matter is that I have not been on the GW pages in almost 2 weeks I think. It's been a rather hectic last 2 months, between on and off fighting some bug I picked up, multiple trips to the state capital for conferences for work and the added work that goes with it, and I just broke up with my girlfriend a couple weeks ago too. I've not had sufficient chance to do a lot of work on my SG1ED stuff either, so much reworking on that I just can't wait for the crap weather to come so I can barackade myself guilt-free.
So anyway, I haven't taken the time to perfect my voices, but that won't take all that much work. I'm sure by the time we come close to even worrying about it I'll be giving russian orders in my sleep. I'd prefer to not give up any of my assignments, but if Max can do better than me on something then I'm all for it, as long as I can still contribute in some way. You've heard my rough passes Star Dragon, it's your call.

I'm screwing around with a new ARMD model (if it turns out better looking in game then it will push dev forward). Mainly for the demo you'll be flight instructor and take the newb from the ARMD and go through the controls then fight some drones (standard beginning) with some RDF flavor thrown in (modes).
MP mentioned he'd be MIA for a few months so mesh-wise some things have been suspended (unfortunate, but that's RL issues for you, my thoughts are with him though...).

I also think you'd be good as Lang. There were two other voices you had in there I thought would be good for strong generic officer roles (cause none of them really jumped out at me as a named role). If you wanted to try a more laid back younger one in regards to your namesake go for it though. I'd love to give it a listen..
BTW, There was a real short one in the middle (planes, I can fly these planes!) that sounded a little like a member of DEATHCLOCK, Toki or Squishgar, I was laughing my ass off!

Well, as a demo, it is just supposed to show my range, those are by no means the only voices I can do. :)
Yeah the planes guy is a Russian accent. And the Dr one is German.
I do a much deeper and thicker accent when I do Gloval, for instance.

Alright, took me a bit longer than expected, thanks to yet another pile hitting the fan on Tuesday, and my noisy downstairs neighbors kept me from getting too much else done, but fortunately I had a half day because of the weather and I got this all done today. Here's the first round, they are bit on the nasal side thanks to the joys of winter but I did what I could to overcome that. Here's the first takes. Let me know if there's anything you want me to re-record.

Wow those were pretty damn good.
Just two little discrepancies. The A.R.M.D is spoken as "Armid" also known as Armors and they use both interchangeably in the series. They never spell it out. :)
Also Roy's last name in RT is Fokker as in Foe or Foal, long Deep o sound not the High "ah" of the original Japanese series Focker.
Hehe... Great job on the attitude, though at times it felt a little too scripted (read). IF you want to change anything go ahead. Not to worry about the nasal sound, we can chalk that up to a hangover.
It's pretty cool having this barely acknowledged character come to life.

Gotcha... it's been so long since I've seen the macross saga dubbed I didn't realize those couple little issues.
If theres anything tooooo scripted sounding just let me know, I've never been good at critiquing my own work.

The I get it sounding normal tempo and then I popped or moved screwing it up lol!

Yeah that's pretty much what I did, record a couple takes, walk away, review them, re-record, walk away, etc. until I got something I liked. I'm just not used to not having feedback as I'm doing it so it's a little disorienting to self-direct. If you don't mind me taking a pinch of liberty though I could probably smooth it out more... I didn't want to be presumptuous about your directing style.

I try to stay free and loose as long as things get steered to the overall vision. Last thing I need is a "purist" having a grievance, which would be ironic since RT is not pure to begin with lol!, but to be honest I was a fan of RT for probably 12 years before I even KNEW about Japanese Macross and the other two series.

Nah, I wouldn't say your style sucks, but I figure I should stick to the script before asking whether or not you minded me being a bit on the liberal side so it flows a bit better or if you were going to be the facist writer type that every singular word in the precise order means something.
And if you need someone to do battle with the purists then just send over to me. I am definitely a purist when it comes to standard anime titles, but RT is definitely a body in of itself in my opinion, even though I'm basing most of what I know of RT on SDFM .

I did those second (well fifth in some cases) takes on a few of those lines. I only redid about half of them, the ones where I got the names wrong and the such and a couple I just wasn't happy with. I know I was tensed up last week but I didn't think it showed that much at the time. If there are anymore you want redone let me know. In the meantime I'm going to see if I can bum a copy of Macross dubbed off one of my friends to avoid future mishaps.

Just a little possible good news.
I contacted two FEMALE VA's.
One is a very good voice, but probably go towards a non-named role (like wingman or cap operator). I am still debating on asking her to be Lisa or Miriya but since the VA part is still way early I want to keep her in reserve if she is willing.
The other blew me through the roof: Possibly all three Bridge bunnies! Depending on what she says I was just going to go with the DVD clips, but you know how annoying it is with random music BGM stepping on their lines. I figured it would be hell to find three females to take those minor roles.
If I got one person to do all three, then I can send her all the lines and she can knock them all out doing one character at a time to stay in character more easily. Plus it would give her a decent amount of lines to make the effort worth it.
I'm awaiting responses to my inquiries so cross your fingers people.
Oh and I was debating having her do Minmay as well, but I don't know if I should inflict that torture upon an innocent VA... :) (I guess those songs are out of the question as well).

I was mentioning this to a friend of mine actually though (who is female) and she's still mulling it over but I suggest she volunteer for this project. She was kinda on the fence because she views anything animated or video gamed as low brow but I may work her past that

I appreciate the help, but if someone doesn't have respect for the material then why have them involved? It would no doubt affect the performance. I'd rather have someone who is eager to help and proud to be a part of something unique to the Robotech/anime community.
I hope it's not Lira or Rian as those are the two I referred to earlier (over on HLP VA area)
I have posted on the VAA and will make one on SAVAGE, so even though they are more "professional" types, I'm sure we'll get some bites from those who understand what's involved in this project.
BTW I just found out you die when Roy dies (That sucks) at least according to the novelization I only read like 20 years ago someone reminded me of the event. lol!
They make no mention of it in the series.
I'll have to character shield you a bit, I need him to be a racist drunk 20 years in the future to disrupt Kierin's Bachelor party (Son of Azonia and Khyron set to wed Dana).

I figured I'd try. I got her turned on to Gundam Wing some how so I figured with a little indoctrination it might work. I'm not twisting any arms though.
As for your fanfiction no I've not read it. Link it, I'll check it out. As for the novelizations I never got around to reading them. My reading habbits have always been a little left and right and back and forth, but every year I spent in college I got further and further away from rec. reading, thanks to the joys of reading so many journal papers.

I just got to chapter 31... Having writer's block for a long while. I know where I want it to go most of the way especially at the end, but getting over some rough spots and crossovers is tough.

Lira got back to me... She's interested but I will contact her again later on as her schedule is hectic and of course we are not ready yet. I just touched base with her cause I thought she's be perfect for the "Bridge Bunnies". They don't have much dialog individually, but I thought they were important enough to include... Especially since it sounds like she can do all three!
And yes, if you take certain messages as "anti-smoking" then that's on you! :)

I noticed an old sample from FreespaceGundam on the hLP voice board and contacted him. I told him I'd like to try him out as Roy Fokker and he's amiable to it when I get stuff together later on. (it's still a little early for real roles, as demo work has ground to a halt again).
But at least I noticed him and let him know I want to tap him in the future, so for now he's penciled in as ROY - not locked...

Thought I'd drop in and see how things are doing (figured this thread is as good as any since it's really where I stick to, but curious beyond just voice acting)... I've been busy with another project heading up what's turning into an almost 20 person cast and I got stuck learning C++ because no one wants to work on the mission development. Oh well.. every time I pop on a new ep of Macross Frontier I think about stopping by here but then I get caught up in its inherant awesomeness and completely lose all priority in needing to watch it again. Oh well... hope all is well.

Nothing definite on the home front (yet) but there are always leads I am tracking down that might bear fruit. I sort got involved with a mod that I did not know was initially private and took some liberties. Where it will head I have no idea but I will be watching it as the NEW custom content related to Robotech/Macross is in their power to grant permission of (New Xenoforce, not old as I have those and those belong to Homura).
Of course I offered my support for yet another anime mod, and in return now get to beta test (only the ZEON sie is enabled fro anime ATM), but we will have to see how things eventually turn out. I'm hoping for a win win situation despite their issues with another mod team over half a dozen Nod/GDI units that has no bearing on OUR situation or involvement...

Dekker? lol progress basically stopped 2 years ago. I threw the VA ads in to try and generate skilled help in other areas, LOL!!!

RA did the voices for the training mission I'd eventually release (he did Captain Kramer).
Someday I'll have to get back to him to redo some, if work resumes and things get changed.

I always loved max sterlings original (The ORINGINAL FS2 TC in my opinion) and seeing this made my day. Guess i forgot to check the dates. Game-wardens not my "local haunt" lol.
I'm up for helping in any way i can though.

We mostly need modeling or model FIXING...
On the downside, I've been out of work since jan and fudns are running out... That includes money for net. So no promises I'll be around much longer. Eye Doctor the 6th also (cringe).

How are you guys doing the Zentradi voices? I've got the equipment to do it, but the echos have to be done manually in order to drop the pitch in the delays.

Unfortunately Mod Development is on hiatus, which is why it should be moved soon to the (archive section) at any time now.
The Mod has suffered from a lack of help in critical areas for years, and now RL issues have made things even worse (namely me being out of work since last Jan and now medical issues cropping up). I still love the Mod and RT/FS2 in general, but I feel no shame in saying for the moment I don't care about development.
I appreciate your voice interest, but I'll get back to you via PM (or this thread) if things change ok? :)

Had a HD crash in AUG and most of the raw models I had in compatible format were lost.
I was lucky I had most of them in pof format already so they can be reconverted but that will probably cause tiny errors to creep in.
I switched to 3.10 and while some of the ancient test missions, that wouldnt work in 3.6, I made long ago now worked. But I had 167 errors reported lol. I think I made some changes and the number went up.
Meh I just don't have the energy or drive I did 6 years ago... I think that's apparent from the postings from day 1 till now.
