What multiplayer really needs is some form of in-game chat lobby, kinda like what we had in Freespace 2 before PXO disappeared. This way we can easily see who's online and have a place to just chill without needing another program.

My question: is this even possible now?

Well for so far I've seen, I don't think there is a special game lobby.
And I don't think anybody will make one. So you will just have to look on the Access Point to see which players are online, and you can chat with them on Games Viewer if they are online.

In-Game lobby is comming back in 3.6.10.

Anyway thats nice to hear. Maybe it will be easier to get a game going.

So... like 10 months later I noticed that the ol PXO lobby thing is back in the recent multiplayer test builds.
