Sorry to bother the SoL team but I was wondering if, when completed, will SoL support GamePads, and if so, How many buttons will be needed.

When I used to emulated SF, SF2 and SF64 I used a pad that One D-Pad, Four Triggers, Four Face buttons and a Start and Select. I can image that all Star Fox gamer would feel a little weird playing with a Mouse and Keyboard at first. So yeah, will GamePads be supported?

P.S. - Sorry for asking this if its been asked / answered before, I've been in Parris Island for awhile.

The FS2 engine does support joystick/gamepad input (which is recommended even for FS2). The actual number of command inputs greatly exceeds the number of buttons any joystick or gamepad has however, a lot of these commands deal with ordering wingmen around or targeting. I can’t say for sure how we intend to handle this in SoL at this time. Most of the basic flight inputs are usually assigned to a joystick/gamepad by default.

I would recommend you play Freespace 2 or another of the stand alone mods like The Babylon Project to get familiar with the engine and its controls. While we intend to create the Starfox feel as much as possible there are still some limitations of the engine that we are unable to change at this time.
