ok, most of you know that i was taken out of commission due to an eye accident. I am fully recovered, and fs2 is only as blurry as it ever was to me...which is to say that it rocks. i have been gone much longer than my recovery time was.
during the recovery, my fiance, you guys know her as Sapphire here at HLP came ill. They've found water in her heart, and fluid in her lungs brought on by rheumatic fever. She may require surgery on her valve, and she may not recover. If she recovers it wil be months before she does, and if she doesn't...we'll lose her.
I know that most people here aren't religeous at all, but for those who are, if you could pray, for those who aren't...if you could do whatever yuou do when someone is in your thoughts, i would um...greatly apreciate it.
This is very scary to me personally, i don't want to lose her.
If you want to send her a card, i'll give you her email.
Thanks guys.

Thats horrible .......I dont know what to say......I will keep her in my prayers until she has recovered. Since having a loved one as sick as that can be demoralizing I encourage you to keep up hope. Just keep in mind that God has a plan, no matter what happens he will make it work. Best of luck to you two.

That's Awful. :(
I feel for ya man. Just keep up hope and don't even think about what might happen. Think about what will happen. Think: "she is going to get better" and don't even even let the glimmer of a thought about the opposite cross your mind.
My best wishes to both of you! ;)

I'm not religious, but I still whish the best for both of you.
What happend to you was really bad. I can't belief anything worse will happen to you now.
That would not be fair. :(
I really hope everything will be fine.
You should tell her how many care about her. :)
That's really sad to hear. :(
The only thing I can think of to say is just to take it one day at a time.
Best of luck for the both of you.

Really sad to hear that SW.
Hope she gets better soon. Be sure to tell her that the usual faces over here are thinking of her.

Ok that's it, we all have to work on making a get well card, you know the sort that everyone in your class would all help make when say your teacher got sick. The mind is very importain when trying to recover from a life threating illness, a person that is set on recovering has a much greater chance then those that don't. There are cases of where people who have lost their ablity to contol their limbs have regained the ablitly to use them, they could of lost the ablity to contoll those limbs for a number of reason but between cases one thing remains clear: the person has the determination to surive and often enough they can go on to live happy lives. SW will have the most importain role in this not only due to the fact that hes there but also due to the relationship that they have. That's not to say that we can't help, we need to give possitive support in anyway we can. So since we have enough artist amongest us we can come up with something really special for the card, on which we can all sign and leave a little personal message.
But SW you have to make sure that she has a real reason to live, I mean I sure that your all ready a charming gentalmen and all that but you have to really show it to her that you can't go on without her. Although I sure that you would have made this sort of thing very clear from the begining but you have to keep on reasuring her. Nor you or her can let your hopes down at anypoint.
Anyway i had alook in the medical textbook that I've got on Reheumatic Fever, the reation with the heart is as follows:
"Reheumatic Fever and the Heart:
Streptococcal infections are indirectly responsible for the rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease. The toxin produced by the streptococci causes an immune reaction that may be followed some 2 to 4 weeks later by rheumatic fever with marked swelling of the joints. Then the antibodies formed to combat the toxian attack the heart valves, producing a condition known as rheumatic endocarditis. The heart valves, particularly the mitral valves, become inflamed, and the normally flexible valves cusps thicken and harden so they do not open sufficiently (mitral stenosis) or close effectively (mitral regurgitation). Either condition interferes with the flow of blood form the left atrium into the left ventricle, causing pulmonary congestion, an importian characteristic of mitral heart disease. Although antibioyic treatment of the prior streptococcal interction is available, many children do not recive adequate treatment and fall victim to rheumatic hear disease"
Now how many made sence of that? Basical there is no mention of water in the heart (how could there be? A build up of water does not seem likely). But basicaly you end up with a heart condition which means you have to be carful on what you do, more so physicaly then anything else. It does however increase your chances of having other heart related problems latter on down the track, but lets worry about that latter. Basicaly she has the problem of getting enough O2 into the blood stream (fluid in lungs) and then getting that O2 to all the cells though her boody (enifficent heart valves). So it doesn't look good, but if she's not on life support then your doing well.
Anyhow that's enough doom and glom. SW did you manage to get any compersation for your inguries?
P.S. Wish Sapphire the best of luck, it wouldn't be GW without her!

Its been a very long road over the summer for me and its good to know people were pulling for me. I am fortunate that I was left with minor damage to my heart valves from the disease. On the flipside, I am facing some other complications in my longterm health, and also some extremely difficult times in another area of my life.
Thank you guys for your thoughts, best wishes, and prayers. They were, and are, much needed and appreciated.
Enough about me, now whats shakin' around here?
Sapp
Very glad to see you back. Been meaning to catch SW on IM and ask how you were but he never seems to be online when I am.
