no, this is not a " LOLZ k Nin10do is teh shut down HEY U GUYS illegal!!"
This is about the game itself.
I've played fan game before and I'm just fretting the same fate of SOL...
1st being ; the Voice acting;
Oh dear, oh dear,
whats that I hear?
Sounds like a preteen
with a cheap mic in my ear!
And what quotes filled with cheeseyness
and the background sounds like a hot mess
SOL please don't let this happen.
and we will be BLESSED.:cool1:
2nd, The Beta
No Rap this time LOL, just saying that..
with the games I've played and anticipated, theres almost a 90 precent chance
that the Beta will be so bugged like the creators just slapped it together with a few untested lines of codes and clicked "upload to public".
Not saying that SOL isn't testing the game the game up and down, left and right, vista and xp, max and linux, 64 bit and 32 bit, low and high rez, insuring the hope for a good demo test :nervous:
3rd; Hype and Disapointment
I'm really excited for SOL, its garentee to be a hit. Only thing that worries me is that it might not be 'as is' as some starfox communities are making it. This is StarFox on a whole new system, and a completely different engine. SOL ISN"T going to be the starfox we love and remembered. But whether or not that's a good or bad thing is up to the eyes of the beholder.
I just know games that got hyped up and ended up being crap-sticks, (WolfQuest , epic fail.)
thats all n.n

Wow,this must be some kinda record for new threads in relation to how close they were made to each other in terms of time.:eek2:
What's 'Wolfquest'? I'm curious.
I'm worried about the hype part of 3, but the I don't really care about it not being just like the Starfox we remember. I loved AC5, and that wasn't rail.
@ a SoL team member. Is Stainless Steel Fox going to do voice acting? He's like in his late 30's.

As SoL's Voice Director, I'll field this one and hopefully alleviate some fears.
With an extensive background in voiceover, I maintain very high standards when working with volunteer talents. Auditions for all major SoL roles will be re-opened in the future, but to give an idea of my standards for vocal quality, online productions I've previously cast/directed include Superhero Slayers (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/485214), The VG Cats Adaptation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufln7TvKyWY) (language warning), and H.E.L.L. (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/494450)
"And what quotes filled with cheeseyness"
I've always held the opinion that Star Fox 64 contained its share of cheesy quotes, however, they were actually well delivered. With Shadows, I am very dead set on eventually putting together a cast that easily outdoes what I considered largely sub-par voice direction in Star Fox: Assault.

As one of the bods involved with actually writing the dialogue, we'll try our best. But, as D-Mac says, Starfox always had a dose of the fromage. We'll try to avoid the full quattro, but I'm afraid that some dairy will have to seep in. :)

Considering that it doesn't take much to outdo Assault, that's not very reasuring. :doubtful:

I remember WolfQuest!!!! I was loling then too at that.
You have already had the Voice Director and one of the Story Work-group members comment about the number 1 worry.
As for number 2, if that were going to happen it would have happened a long time ago. We refuse to release an incomplete game. So instead of releasing a beta we narrowed our vision and will release the game in parts. So Release 1 is what we are working hard on now.
As for 3, to be honest I agree with you. As a member of the team I am exposed more to how the game plays and the story and all that. Then I read the forums and I can't exactly tell people ya or nah to things most of the time. So I fear people are getting the wrong idea or hopes about certain things in the game. Hype really isn't our goal, our goal is Release 1 and hope everyone enjoys while we make Release 2.

Go watch the the stuff D-Mac linked to then you can have an idea of the voice acting that will at least be in the game. Remember voice acting auditions will open again in the future.

Woah woah remember what happened to Wolfquest *besides the game completely sucking..*
those game creators decided to release the game into episodes instead of full sim.
- It took them almost 2 YEARS to come out with episode 2 ( I think it only just came out last week) Dx
- The first one didn't even work right, bugged like heck, and it wasn't even 1/10 of the 'supposed promises' shown on the video/ads, like multiplayer o.o
Maybe 'Release' isn't the same as Episodes though..:confused1
And I know SOL isn't trying to piss off the Starfox fandom like WQ pist off the wolf fans

to be honest there isn't anything about SOL that scares me aside from your point on voice acting. i doubt SOL could be any worse than adventures was (not a bad non cannon game but it was still annoying)

I thought DinoPlanet became offical/canon of SF's plot because Crystal was in every game and squeal after that o.o
but it dun matter  I see your point.
The worst over-all voice acting had to have been from adventures , fox sounded like a fire ant bit him in the balls ... and I didn't think the quotes could get worse than from n64..
Assault saved the series, voice wise...
And Command/Poorly made SF2snes remake never existed.

I agree with most of this, but the adventures fox DID sound like a 21 year old fox mccloud, and it still was like 64 Fox. Remember...
WERE ENTERING CORNERIA CITY NOW
and
WELL WHY COULDN'T I BRING MY BLASTER?
Its just it did kinda sound like Fox. The Assault Fox sounded like a old Fox, but the only downfall for voice acting is Leon. Gosh Darnit Leon! First you sounded like a professional assassin, and now you sound like a deranged cereal killer!!
Wolfs voice was fine, it was deep and sounded like some old motorcyclist. you know? Panther who cares, hes justa Meta-Knight... and Pigma's dead. And then there is Andrew.
ANDROSS'S ENEMY, IS MYYYYYYY ENEMY!
and the assault one sucks, but he's dead too, so who cares. :P
Falco, I'm going to have to say, they improved it. He did come from a gang originally, so having the accent only complements him.
HANDS OFF MY BREAD!
Slippy was better. They made it croakier, but still semi-light. Its perfect for him.
Peppy's was Godly, handsdown.

I'm interested in knowing what Wolf would sound like
reasons being that his voice went from sarcastic sounding British a-hole,
to dirt grumpy sounding old huskey voice.
No only did he finally start puberty but his accent changed LOL
And Pigma went from whiney piggy sounding in n64, bosshog in Assault o.O
and wow, I think Assault did backward puberty on Leon and Andrew lol...

I guess wolf was supposed to sound like a foreign british assassin of some sort of top-rank, I don't know buts that's what I thought of him. His new voice though, its bad-ass and I think he should keep it.
"WHATS THE MATTER? SCARED?"
Pigma in 64 sounded what a "back-Stabber" should sound like. an asshole.
"To bad you dads not here to see you FAIL"
In Assault, his was fine. He sounded like a slob :D
But Leon and Andrew...
They killed them.

I do hope you read more than just the final sentence of my previous post. Despite my issues with Assault's casting and direction, numerous non-profit game projects still fall well short of its caliber.
Are you saying they were bad?!?
Only leon.
Just leon...
Oddly enough, Leon actually has a very talented actor in David Scully, who also voiced Sgt. Johnson in the Halo series. He was just given absurd direction that completely contrasts Leon's background as a "cold and calculating assassin".
Though what's bothered me most has been the low energy tone of Assault's Fox.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zep4I3x8T28
Krystal sounds fine here, but the exchanges between Fox and Tricky feature the most deadpan, awkwardly paced vocal performances I've heard in any last-gen game.
Another instance:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R67Fw-Sy0Sw
Pepper sounds alright here, but in their exchanges, we hear very little of Fox raising his voice to express his frustration, let alone to make sure he's being overheard while standing out on the wing of a moving aircraft. That's poor direction.

Uhh... exactly what must I do? Is it like when you play as Fox and beat Falco and Fox says "Better luck next time, Falco."
EDIT: Oh my GOSH! The guy who did Assault Leon was also Sgt. Johnson from Halo? Wow, they trashed his skill in Assault.
@ D-mac. It was just a joke.:doubtful:
