Ok lets move away from logic then. If I were piloting an arwing the barrel roll would be the most beneficial maneuver to have, and vomiting might be a side effect of using it. It's a fictional series even though I'd like to see some improvement in many other areas besides the arwing it won't be a lasting impression on me if Star Fox pulls a Sonic and adds millions of characters/ships to waste my valuable time. The thing about the Star Fox is that the arwing is the most important avatar, not Fox, Falco, Peppy, Slippy, or Krystal. Now the arwing is undoubtedly different in each game because of the setup of the game. The original was slower than 64 while Adventures was similar to 64 and assault was what I consider the dunce because of the lackluster control scheme. Now I haven't played Command so I don't know how that arwing is set up, and if you think I'm not a fan of assault you are wrong. I consider it the dunce because it is the slowest of the arwings, the boost does not stop when you tell it to, the do a barrel roll maneuver is only equipped on one button, and the BOMBS SUCK. I rest my case.
