For those of you interested in Freespace 2 multiplayer... here are some steps for setting up Freespace 2 in multiplayer. Note: no matter what build you play, you dont have much of a choice on graphics, your going to need to run retail graphics if you wish to play games on valid hosts.

---Setting up Toms build---
Step 1: download Toms build

Step 2: Save the FS2.exe to the C:\Games\FreeSpace2\ (default directory)

Step 3: Make sure you dont have any mods or Media VPs in the main directory.

Step 4: Setup your network using the retail launcher (example shown below)

Step 5: Go into freespace2 and press F2 when you get to the main hall, goto the multi tab and make sure the pxo light is off (shown below)

Step 6: Add the IP of the desired host, the example shown below is what it should look like as if you were joining my host.

Your ready to go !!!

---Setting up FS2_Open (SCP)---
(Using other tutorials you should have FS2_Open already installed at this point)

Step 1: Move your mv files (media vps) to their own folder within the freespace 2 root directory. We recommend labeling this Media_VPs.

Step 2: As future reference if you want to use your mv files this is how you can do it without having to move them around. Goto the SCP Launcher and select the MOD tab at the top. and select "select mod" and select the media_vps folder. (examples shown below) Keep in mind before you play multi your going to need to select NO MOD if you wish to play without hacked tables.

One small point. Can you change the name for the Media VPs folder to mediavps instead of Media_VPs I'm trying to get everyone to use a unified set of names now so that we can bundle mod.ini files with mods that work for everyone out of the box :)
