Hello fellas been a while since I stumbled into GW.

Got the urge to do a little FREDing so I started a mini campaign. Looking at around 6 missions but I'm gonna do a little twist so it'll be more like 12.
Y'know how racing games will have 6 tracks but then do reverse/mirror versions ? so it's familiar but not quite the same ? Like that.

Unless I get bored and sod it off. I have sat down and planned it all out though. It'll be vanilla FS as: I'm on dial up and down load anything of consequence, my comp probably can't handle of the SCP bells 'n' whistles and I may got bored if I over-complicate it. No mods 'cos I can't be botherd with all that bumph right now. Maybe later.

No name yet either. Working title: "Campaign" ;)

A little realignment means M1 has been shifted to Mission2 and a short Into mission bumped to the top. Unless it's possible to start a campaign with a loop decision ?
 
I've never tried it but I don't think so. You could have a dummy first mission though.

no brief, no debrief and the only event is when (true) (end-mission).
 
Didn't take long to draft up a little Cargo Depot Assault mission so no problems there. Tied it in with "The Place of Chariots" so it's quite useful as an initial plot staging mission.
 
Damn. I don't think I could ever code a non-SCP mission now. :) I've been far too spoiled by the new stuff. :)
 
Mission 2 looks pretty good so on to Mission 3.
Crazy Docking works a treat. Just need to find something legitimate to distract Alpha1 while the NTF gets sneaky.....

Hmmn, beamz usually does the trick......

im following. it seems like a nice campaing, with all these mentionings of sneaky NTF forces and beams...
 
Some unexpected freetime means I'm on to mission 4. This is gonna be The Big Assault with a heavily scripted Big Ship Battle.
I've got a good idea of how to tie in player objectives with ship actions.

One more to go and I should imagine that's 50% of the framework complete. Doesn't include including final play tetsing, tweaking brief/debriefs, campaign stuff like is-previouse-event-ccomplete etc so say 30% actual complete. The final 50% will be mostly adjustment for my Big Twist.

You might want to try it y'know, just once in a while. I imagine it's like a modeller setting a strict polly limit and having to improvise to make it work. I find that to be quite a lot of fun.

True. There is a certain amount of necessity being the mother of invention that would occur. I might even come with a few new tricks I wouldn't think of otherwise.

The main problem is time. I barely have enough for the stuff I need to do.

I tried a FRED2 only mission once. I gave up a quarter way through. :p I started making missions with FRED2_Open, so I never got to know what I couldn't do (or find long hacks to do it).
 
Anybody else noticed how a Hateshput has a ridiculously narrow FOV with it's beams ? M4 has the Psmatik assaulting a rebel base but it won't fire it's beams when performing a broadside pass. It looks crap if it rolls directly infront and blasts it while sitting still plus it really needs to be the Psamtik (rather than a generic destroyer).

I may have to dust off the old POF editing skillz.....(gotta edit the Broadacia so it doesn't appear as the Iceni anyway) :doubtful:
 
Uh, well, funny you should ask as the Broadacia doesn't really work as is. A couple of beams and you're left looking at the Iceni. PCS doesn't like it at all so I'm modelling a similar asteroid base right now.
I was also using a modified Alistor but I may as well model something for that too. After Raider Wars and some experience of TAP, it's good to be able to do whatever I want though :biggrin1:

To answer you're question, it ain't going to be PI but it looks like there will be original content, despite what I had intended. :)
