Fuck you Rare.

...Sonic's supposed to be the fastest creature on land.

So why the fuck is he in a car?

In an interview with developers of Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Omar Woodley and Dan Gallardo, Dan said this:

Dan Gallardo of Sega said:
Yea, because really, Sonic on foot would probably beat everybody. We had to make the race fair, so we put him in a car *laughs*

Now to disappear for another 2 years!

1. Why is this in the Lylat section? :p

2. It appears that the Sonic franchise is doomed. I seriously don't know where the heck they plan to go with this... :doubtful:

Microsoft owns 100% controlling interest in Rare and their characters. For all we know, Microsoft could've loaned Banjo to Sega against Rare's wishes.

I'm just sayin'...

so where's Conker and Diddy Kong??
(or does Rare only 100% own certain Rare characters??)

... wait maybe I'm thinking of Diddy Kong racing and Mario Kart

SEGA YOUR 10 YEARS LATE TO EVEN START A RACING GAME -.-

This thread is epic.
For those of you that don't already know, Rare left Nintendo behalf of Star Fox Adventures (why I posted this thread) and now Banjo + Kazooie are appearing in Sega Games. But the two where pulled out because the Nintendo "stole" Star Fox Adventures (previously called Dinosaur Planet)

Diddy Kong Racing DS appeared and made me wonder: Does this mean Microsoft is publishing a game for Nintendo? Viva Pinata DS was released as well. Also, what is Banjo doing in a Sega game?

Video Games is a odd business.

After the split, Nintendo kept the rights to Rare's work with the Donkey Kong and Star Fox franchises. Rare kept their own original concepts such as Conker and Banjo-Kazooie, who now fully belong to Microsoft.

Sonic Drift and Sonic R from the mid-90s, though from what I hear, those games are better off forgotten.

That's not it at all. Rare left because Nintendo sold their ownership, allowing Microsoft to buy them. This deal occurred before Adventures was even released in stores.

Diddy Kong Racing DS appeared and made me wonder: Does this mean Microsoft is publishing a game for Nintendo? Viva Pinata DS was released as well. Also, what is Banjo doing in a Sega game?

As Microsoft doesn't have a competing handheld system of its own, they've always allowed Rare to develop GBA and DS games. Microsoft doesn't publish these, however. Conker and Banjo are notably absent from the Diddy Kong Racing DS port, as they're now under Microsoft's copyright.

As for Banjo and Kazooie appearing in this Sega game? It's a marketing ploy. They were loaned out by Microsoft to increase sales of the X360 version. If Nintendo really wanted to, they could've just as easily loaned out Mario for the Wii version.

but if Conker is now part of microsoft why wasn't he added to the 360 version I wonder.... ( last I check both banjo and conker were part of Diddy Kong racing so x.x]

Although he was in Diddy Kong Racing, Conker has become a lot less... "kid-friendly" since Bad Fur Day. He wouldn't attract, or fit in the E-rating audience Sega wants for this game.

What if Sega broke free from nintendo and got back into the console market again and made a sonic game that was actually good?

naaaaaaaah...........................

What if Sega would make a Phantasy Star game for the Wii?

That would be sooooo AWESOME!

That would be awesome, if they went back to more of the PSO way of things. There were some nice things about PSU but it was lacking what made the Phantasy Star series so awesome. But I can't really tell you what that was.

With this said, I highly recommend the DS's Phantasy Star Zero. It plays like the first PSO games, and borrows a few of PSU's actually GOOD ideas.
